There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Trout
Published in Paperback by Owl Books (01 April, 2002)
Authors: Teri Sloat and Reynold Ruffins

The Pacific Northwest does wonders for this old rhyme!
I'm not a big fan of the song/rhyme "There Was an Old Woman Who Swallowed a Fly", but I do like this quirky book. The old woman is now an old lady, and she no longer swallows flies, cats, and dogs. Instead, she swallows, trout, salmon, otters, and other animals indigenous to the Pacific Northwest. She no longer dies, either--although she does become dangerously large after swallowing the ocean. This book is a lot of fun. The change of venue does wonders for the old rhyme, and Reynold Ruffins' colorful, folk-artsy illustrations are a pleasure. Sure, it's a cross-cultural gimmick, but it works. My two-year-old and I love singing this book together.

We LOVE this book
I am a Nursery School Teacher's Aid, and I pick out the books and
read the my classes- I work with three year olds- We LOVE this book, we loved I knew an Old Lady who Swallowed a Fly- but this one is equally as good.

I can't wait to read the Old lady who Swallowed a Pie!

Enjoy-

there was an old lady who swallowed a trout!
What a fun book!! My preschoolers love it. The illustrations are both colorful and beautiful and certainly depict the Pacific Northwest. It's such a great participation book, all the children love to join in and never tire of it.

50 Years of Classic Sports Cars

Good, but could have been much better. . .
The only reason I didn't give this book a top rating is because the author, Bill Reynolds, for some unknown reason, excluded
BMW and Mercedes automobiles from his book. And, I can not imagine why??? What a shame! The book could have been a 10 if he'd only shown a few BMW and MB highlights!

beautiful,beautiful,beatiful
wow..this is 288 pages of wow. The best thing is the photography...it is absolutely beautiful...there is a car a page, and some great cars..thehe book is divided into..

Post war cars1945-1955 Turning up the wick 1956-1962 Mid Engines and more 1963-1973 Heads down for the fuel crisis 1974-1983 Resurgence 1983 onwards and goes from 1950 Ferrari 166 MM Barchetta to the 1996 Jaguar XK8.. this book is great for a husband and great for the car loving kid..so what are u waiting for???

Great Book for Sports Car Enthusiasts
Bill Reynolds' photography is stunning in this book. A variety of high performance cars is reviewed in relation to the time period they were produced, starting in 1945 and ending in 1996. Brief, yet detailed, descriptions cover many topics including a range from technical specifications to notable style designs on each car.

If you enjoy viewing beautiful cars or want to know what the engines can do, you should enjoy this book.

Another interesting point to the book is the comparison between the European market and the United States market for sports cars.

I highly recommend this book for your personal collection or as a gift.

Earthship: How to Build Your Own
Published in Paperback by Solar Survival Pr (September, 1990)
Author: Michael E. Reynolds
Average review score:

Why?
After reading lots of other underground building books I find myself asking, why build with tires? Anyhow, if your interested in underground building you might as well check this technique out. There is lots of interesting, and useful information inside, but the book could have used a lot more photos, especially colour ones. You will also learn about a new style of living in tune with the earth.

You'll want all the books in this series
I went to Taos and toured some of the "Earth Ship" houses, and they were wonderful. I bought the books there and read them cover to cover (on the way home). These books are full of good, practical, information. If you have access to old tires, empty cans, clay mud, you could build your own house. I haven't done a house yet, but I've done some other interesting projects using these principles.

a new way of living for the health of our planet
This book could change the world. Yes, a sweeping claim but just check it out if you are interested in living in harmony with the earth. Imagine living in a home you built yourself of materials all in overabundance in the states. Imagine never having to pay another utility bill! This book has it all baby! I'd like to build the world an earthship. A revolutionary idea for our screwy times> BUY IT READ IT GET IT DO IT!!!

The Gold's Gym Training Encyclopedia
Published in Paperback by McGraw-Hill/Contemporary Books (September, 1984)
Authors: Peter Grymkowski, Edward Connors, Tim Kimber, and Bill Reynolds
Average review score:

Good Exercise Descriptions
This book has good detailed descriptions on every exercises and also has info on reps, restance training and how to recover from a workout. The exercise routines are a little out-dated.

This book gives you the "language" of the gym
I liked reading this book but I don't know exactly how scientific some of the terms are; like when he calls people who jerk the weights around for high reps "pumpers." I usually refer to them as time wasters because they are injuries waiting to happen. The book does present you with modern training methods, but if I have to recommend one book.....Steve Reeves' new book "Building the Classic Physique" is still the best.

The term "encyclopedia" is deserved
For those who want to learn an extensive set of exercises for each muscle group, this is the book. It illustrates every exercise it refers to and indicates the muscles affected. Moreover, the descriptions and illustrations are almost always on the same page for easy reference. Very useful for learning your set of routines and as a reminder before a training session.

Judy Moody Saves the World!
Published in Paperback by Walker Books (05 August, 2002)
Authors: Megan Macdonald and Peter Reynolds

Judy Moody Saves the World
The book Judy Moody Saves the World, is about a little girl Judy Moody. The main characters in this book are: Judy a 11 yer old girl, Stink, Judy's younger brother, Rocky and Frank, Judy's best friends. In school, Judy likes to learn about the world and how she can be a person that will not litter, but throw away trash, and will recycle things, lilke bottles.I would recommend this book it people who like to read about saving the world and nature.

I love this book!
I love this book so much because it is funny, because her friends have to pick up a frog. Then her friends feel something warm -- guess what that was. There are no books better than Judy Moody. There are no books funnier than Judy Moody. And this is all that I can tell you about this book.

A Smart and Funny Book
My seven year old daughter loved this book, and I did, too. There was a lot of humor, and my daughter was laughing out loud to parts of it. One thing I appreciated was that the book doesn't talk down to kids, the way I think the "Junie B. Jones" books do (by using improper grammar and words like "bestest" to seem cute). Highly recommended!

Mad Notions: A True Tale of Murder and Mayhem

Mad Notions: A true tale of Murder & Mahem
I received the book and read it in one day. The book was well researched and acurate but for only a couple of indescrepencies that did not effect the outcome. The author described the victim very well considering he never met him. I should know, the victim is my stepson whom I love and miss dearly. I read the book with tears in my eyes as I relived the hellish account of the murder and trial we went through. I could see each character and events vividly in my mind. Now when our friends ask many questions that arise, we simply tell them to read the book for all the answers. The reality of it is shocking to our family, friends, us and especially the greatest victims of all-our grandchildren. The first murder in Sevierville, Tenn. in 33 years. Hopefully the last - anywhere!!

Mad Notions by John Lawrence Reynolds
I RECEIVED THE BOOK AND READ IT ALL IN ONE DAY. I FOUND IT VERY INTERESTING AND FACTUAL EXCEPT FOR A COUPLE OF INDESCREPENCIES THAT DIDN'T EFFECT THE OUTCOME. IT WAS WELL WRITTEN AND WELL RESEARCHED. I ALSO FOUND THAT THE AUTHOR GAVE A EXTREMELY GOOD DESCRIPTION OF THE VICTIM CONSIDERING HE NEVER MET HIM. I SHOULD KNOW --- THE VICTIM IS MY STEPSON WHOM I LOVED DEARLY AND THE OTHER VICTIMS- OUR GRANDCHILDREN !! THE DESCRIPTION OF SHAYNE IS QUITE ACURATE AS WELL AS THE FACTS OF THE TRIAL. OUR FAMILY RELIVED THAT HELLISH EVENT ALL OVER. NOW WHEN OUR FRIENDS ASK DETAILS WHICH ARE HARD TO TALK ABOUT, WE JUST ADDRESS THEM TO READ THE STORY. IT HAS ALL THE HORRIBLE TRUTHS WE LIVED THROUGH.

Close to Home
Mr. Reynolds keeps you right there to the end. Even if I was not from Sevier County, I couldn't put this book down. The Rae family moved in across the street from me in the 80's. I quickly became friends with Lana, Brett's sister. They were a very nice family and I enjoyed spending time with them. This book gave me a better understanding of one of the most tragic stories my hometown has ever known, possibly since the tragic "Tattoo Eddie" murders. I will read this authors other books and would love to talk with him!

Pike on the Fly: The Flyfishermans Guide to Northerns, Tigers, and Muskies (Spring Creek Pr Bk)
Published in Paperback by Johnson Books (October, 1993)
Authors: Barry Reynolds, John Berryman, and Lefty Kreh
Average review score:

fair to middlin
Compared to Murray's Flyfishing for Smallmouth Bass, expect vague generalizations without enough specifics to sink your teeth into.

Think like a predator!
I had the privilege to work on a TV show called HIGH COUNTRY OUTDOORS with Barry the same year he and John wrote PIKE ON THE FLY. I devoured this book and still have it on my shelf in close reach. The techniques aren't just old hackneyed phrases but are true tested tactics gleaned from Barry's experiences. I know of no better way to understand the ways of flyfishing for pike and other large gamefish than to read this book over and over. I refer to it for much more than just pike and muskie, its a great handbook to have when I want to think like a fish.

Pike on the Fly
I read this book then went to Canada fly fishing for Pike. I found out that Barry Reynolds knows fly fishing for Pike. Take the advice of this book and you WILL catch Pike, lots of Pike on a fly rod.

Scribes and scholars : a guide to the transmission of Greek and Latin literature
Published in Unknown Binding by Clarendon Press ()
Author: L. D. Reynolds
Average review score:

Indispensable for educated people
Verification of the source and the process is aiways important in the matter of information to judge the validity, in which relation this work interests readers very deeply. On the other hand, this work makes recognise the value of printer and the good luck that the classical works have come down to us to civilise us.

A classic textbook
"Scribes and Scholars" has become a classic. Now in the 3rd edition, it is a standard university textbook. It has also been translated into French with an additional bibliography by the great French scholar Pierre Petitmengin.

This books sets out to tell the story of how ancient literature travelled down the ages from the original authors to arrive in printed form in our hands. The focus is on the era to 1500, when printing takes over.

Everyone knows that before printing was invented, the only books were individually hand-copied. Reynolds and Wilson discuss the book trade of antiquity. The materials available - papyrus, parchment, leather and eventually paper - affect the story. The types of bookhand available in each era are discussed. When the Roman empire in the West collapsed, with it went not merely its military and political structures, but in fact every area of society, including the language itself. In the Greek East the picture was different, as Greek progressed on the long journey from Pericles to Papadopulous. Syriac and Arabic manuscripts are also mentioned. Each chapter has an interesting bibliography in the form of additional notes, which acts as a gateway into the literature.

The renaissance rediscovery is covered, in the only decent account in English.

Limitations? It would be very nice to have yet more footnotes. However this is hardly a criticism. Almost any section could easily be twice the length. I admit that I hanker for a longer book - yet this would probably be much less useful to most people.

One thing that becomes very quickly apparent is just how little material there is in English on this subject. The reader who seeks further information will find himself faced with non-English journals fairly quickly.

This book is essential reading for anyone who wants to get a real idea of just how our ancient heritage survived. Its easy reading too! Unreservedly recommended.

Great intro to the history of classical scholarship
Informative and invaluable, Scribes and Scholars lends itself to the curiosity of the litterati as well as it does to the serious inquiry of beginning scholars. From the viable book trade of ancient Greece, through the centuries of forgotten scholarship and preservation, to the impetus of modern textual criticism, Scribes and Scholars is informing, engaging, and worth the cost.

Walker's Crossing

Walker's Crossing
Walker's Crossing was The best book I have Ever read. Usually when I read a book, I get bored and I don't finish the book. When I read Walker's Crossing, I read the book. I was very interested in the book. I used to want to be a cowboy when I was younger. When Lon Walker got hurt,I thought it was cool that Gil Walker and Ryan Walker helped out on the Ranch. If I was a girl, I would want to be a Junior Rodeo Queen too.Charlene never gave up.I learned alot about what cowboys really do on a Ranch.I urge everyone in the world to read Walker's Crossing. It's a great book.

Historical Fiction
"Walker's Crossing" is an excellent example of historical fiction as it brings to life the prejudicial views of the Ku Klux Klan and shows how prejudice affects a community. Ryan Walker is a seventh grade boy who lives on a ranch in rural Wyoming. All Ryan wants is to be a cowboy for Saddlebow Ranch, where his father is the foreman. Ryan's good-for-nothing 22-year old brother, Gil, becomes involved with the Mountain Patriots Association, a group formed to drive out all "minorities" from the area.

Ryan's best friend, Matt, becomes a junior member of the Patriots and starts spreading racial propoganda around their junior high school. Then a friend's father is killed in a helicopter crash caused by the Patriots, and Ryan tries to help his friend deal with the loss of his father. Ryan's brother, Gil, is put in jail.

Throughout the book, Ryan is described as being "too tall and too skinny", made fun of because of his appearance. This story uses prejudice and differences among people to explore how we find common ground and acceptance in order to build character. Ryan remains true to his friends, despite ridicule from others, and finds an inner strength he did not know he possessed. At the end of the story, he is offered that job at Saddlebow - and Ryan learns that honesty, integrity and trust win over hatred and ignorance.

A wonderful story for young people and adults alike.

A YOUNG BOY'S DREAM
Many young boys dream of becoming a cowboy, but Ryan is somewhat different because he wants to be a working cowboy in Wyoming. His brother's association with a local militia group throws stumbling blocks into Ryan's path as he learns how to overcome obstacles and the meaning of maturity. Tony Award nominee Tom Wopat gives an appropriately gripping read to this saga.

Very Inspirational
Being a teen mom, I found this book very helpful to understand my son's father's point of view. Like Christy I was TOTALLY against aborion and we struggled quite a lot with that issue. We are no longer together, sadly to say, but I feel like if I would have read this book sooner, it could have helped us to work things out instead of fighting all of the time. I would strongly recommend this book to many teen moms that feel stranded, and like they are the only one out there in this position.

A powerful book that every teenager should read!
This book touches on many problems that a teenager might face in today's society. It is an extremely fast-reading book that I absolutely could not put down!

This is a must read for any teenager that might be facing pregnancy or living without a father figure in his or her life.

WONDERFULL LEASON FOR TEENS
I LOVED IT. VERY POWERFULL IN WORDS. JEFFS LIVE TEACHES A BIG LESSON
